Medicare Plan G
Medicare Plan G is a form of Medicare Supplement Insurance also referred to as a Medigap plan. Like Plan F, Plan G is a comprehensive benefit plan available and will leave the beneficiary with minimal out of pocket expenses for medical and hospital visits. The only difference between Plan F and Plan G is the deductible for part B.
Medicare Plan G is one of the most popular Medigap plans. Depending on the insurance company who offers the plan, you may find variable rates. This is why shopping with our Medicare Supplement Insurance Agency is important. We offer many companies and can compare them for you to find the right plan at the right price.
When choosing Medicare Plan G, it is important to keep this in mind:
Medicare Plan G has a deductible on Part B. The annual deductible currently in 2019 on Medicare Part B for all beneficiaries is $185.
Is Plan G Less Expensive Than Plan F?
Maybe. Different companies offer different rates, so depending on who the policy is written with, Plan G could be less expensive.
Are All Companies The Same Price For Medicare Plan G?
There are many companies who offer Medicare Plan G. While the plan itself does not vary, the pricing can vary from company to company.
With Medicare Plan F Being Discontinued, is Plan G A Good Replacement?
It is possible that after 2020, Medicare Plan F will no longer be available. If you were eligible for Medicare Plan A prior to 2020, you can continue to enroll in Medicare Plan F. If you have not enrolled previously, Plan G is a great replacement as it is only lacking one benefit, the Part B deductible mentioned above.
Is There A High Deductible Plan G Option?
Since the popular plan F is going away, there will likely be a High Deductible Plan G available in 2020. Stay tuned!
